Right now, the 2009 service trip is well underway. So while we wait for the trip participants' return to hear the stories (which are always memorable!), here's a video of some of the projects from the 2007 service trip.

ReplyDeleteGreetings Global Citizens,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Danielle Agyemang and I am a Junior at the University of Florida. I am Sociology major with an interdisciplinary study in International Development and Humanitarian Assistance. I am originally from Ghana, West Africa but have had the privilege to have lived in many countries. My experiences abroad but most significantly in developing nations has made me aware to the realities in the world and passionate about development and progress. Poverty is a curable disease that does not receive the attention it deserves. Through spreading awareness and evoking positive activism, we can help remedy the afflictions burdened by poverty. Often in the midst and corruption of desperation, the voice of women are solemnly heard. I believe that it is pertinent to give an active and proactive voice to these women. In this, given the proper tools we can Empower and instill in our Global sisters pride and strength but more so be the outlet they need to brake their silence and change their situation.
I am currently the Women's Empowerment and Gender Inequalities chair/director for Recurso 2009-2010. I look forward to diligently working to bring about the activism, awareness and reform that are needed through integrity, promise and quality programming. Be on the lookout for upcoming events. I look forward to working with you all on the University Campus, Gainesville community and Global community.
Regards,
Danielle Agyemang.
